Cleaning today...
I told my kids that today was "clean your room day". My daughter closed her door and monitored me everytime I went that direction. She didn't want me to start to clean without her ok on where everything went. I helped my son first and then my daughter and I tackled her room. They still have way too many toys, but it is a great improvement.

I also decided to clean the shelves in the refrigerator. I got most everything clean and was rinsing off the glass bottom shelf (above the bottom drawers). I did not drop it or hit it and it just shattered in my hands. whoa... It falls to a million pieces instead of large dangerous ones. I called Sears parts center and they are putting one in the mail for me. It was 35$, which I thougt was reasonable.

My computer has been getting viruses everytime my kids play on line at a kids web site, Cartoon Network and such. My protection gets it. But it is annoying. Sometimes it can't fix it but just isolates the infected file. And I can't use that file. Microsoft has a free viruse help line that I call that they tell me what to do. sigh**

We went to see the new Harry Potter movie today. We went to the 2$ theater, all four of us got in for 8 bucks. Not bad. I thought the movie was rated PG. At the theater it said PG-13. It was a little scary, but not PG 13 to me. I took my 6 year old.

We ate at a Golden Corral buffet today. They had shrimp and steak. Oh the many different kinds of shrimp , yummy!!

The dates on this blog have gotten messed up. I have posted to this and my CatDogBlog on the same days, but the dates are not the same...

My sister gave me a name of a good author to try. Lynn Kurland, I have now read 3 of her books and want more. They are good!

I went to the hair dresser yeaterday. I told her it was too shaggy and to cut it a little shorter in the back and over the ears. It is now much shorter than I thought it would be. I do like the ease of short hair, though. Will we women ever be happy with our hair... weight ... face... etc..

I canned some more tomatoes today. This year will be a little less than some years. The rain didn't show up in time to make lots of them.

My sister-in-laws , mother-in-law just had surgery to remove a breast that was loaded with cancer. They say it has spread to the lymph nodes. Please pray for Pat.

It was 97 outside today. I was going to work on the windows, but we got up late and it was too hot even then. I don't desire heat exhaustion. So I tried to get a new belt for my vacuum. The one that had the part number given in the manual was too small, so I took it back and just measured them to my old one.

It is afternoon and I have done... six quarts of tomatoes, canned... washed 3 five gallon buckets of new picked tomatoes,...
shucked, desilked, and blanched and frozen 34 ears of corn.. Tired..

We have been converting our analog 8mm family videos to DVDs. It is fun watching them. The kids were such cute babies.. sigh*...
I love to see them grow too. I like experiencing the different stages of life with them and with my own life. I would not want to go back in time. Of course my more matronly shape is not my favorite part, but "say-la-vee". :)

Someone I know is trying to get me to take a kitten they have. It is very cute, and my daughter was there and wants it , of course. It reminded me of a poem I wrote in high school...

Fuzzy Kitten

Whisper soft
Feathery fur
Fuzzy kitten
Funny purr

Walking lightly
Frolicking play
Fuzzy kitten
Paper frayed

Wiskers long
Tender paws
Fuzzy kitten
Tiny claws

Quiet call
Cute meow
Fuzzy kitten
Sleeping now

Just got back from vacationing again. This time it was hubby's annual beach weedend, that work pays for. The kids look forward to playing on the beach and in the waves. This year we found several shells that still had the living things in them. I threw the biggest one back and kept three more of them. They are the curly coney looking things. We also pedaled around the island on a bicycle surrey. Of course hubby did most of the work, (he has great legs ;) There was a big dinner and I piled my plate with shrimp. yummy.

The day we left, my husband's sister was in town for a short while. her husband had a job interview in a town 20 mi away. That would be strange, but good, if they moved down to our corner of nowhere.

We need rain down here very badly. I see the corn crops withering. Today the weather just teased us. There was thundering 2 or 3 times today but no rain. I have been watering my flowers with buckets of water. Our tomato garden will not have as many tomatoes this year. We are getting some good cherry tomatoes. I make salsa out of them. Even the kids eat it.

Been on vacation... I'm baaack...

We went to visit family in north Alabama. We had a good time. We toured Cathedral Caverns. My father use to take us to caves, when I was in my teens. I loved the caves around AL and the biggest one, Mammoth Cave , in Kentucky. My daughter got to ride her horse at Grandads house. My father-in-law's uncle use to own Cathedral Caverns. He told us stories of how he use to go play in it with his cousins and brothers. I enjoyed seeing my family too. We always get together and have a big meal after church. I went to the stove and had a dejavue moment. Every thing looked just as it did when I was young. I stirred the gravy , some. That is one thing I knew how to do when I got married, make gravy, from helping my Mom.

After AL.. we went to SeaWorld in Orlando. That was fun. We saw Shamu show and the dolphin show and a couple of other shows. There was only 2 or 3 rides there. We all went on the Journey to Atlantis ride. My daughter didn't like it but my son went a second time with his Dad. We tried to pet the dolphins and did pet the stingrays. We saw polar bears, manatees, baluga whales, mock orcas, real Orcas, dolphins, stingrays, turtles, fish, sharks, clydsdale horses, sea lions, flamingos, penguins, oysters with pearls and lots of people speaking many languages.
I made a reservation on line with a hotel, all went well with the reservation but the hotel wasn't the newest or in the best of neighborhoods. There was a police car parked in the parking lot. Needless to say we didn't use the pool. We did decide to splurge a few more dollars next time. You do get what you pay for... though there wasn't really a problem with the room itself.
