Bonnie's Ramblings

This and That from an Alabama girl living in South GA

My husband and I have gone Hi(er)Tech lately. This year, so far, we have gotten a new lap top , a digital camcorder and a DVD writer. It is cool to be able to burn our movies real fast. It works with our new and old camcorders and any movies we have on memory card from our digital cameras.

We are going to visit family soon. My father-in-law is taking us to Catherdral Caverns in north Alabama. His family use to own it and the surrounding land a long time ago.

I like the new look on Blogger, but it is funny when I click to post or go back the screen flickers in a strange way. I know it is not my computer, because it only happens at this site.

It has been in the mid 90's here for awhile. At night I like it cold, so I can sleep. But my husband still puts out the BTU's under the covers and I get hot when we are close and freeze when the covers are off. I had a woman I met tell me once, that she and her husband were disappointed when they got married because they couldn't sleep cuddled up, they got too hot. We usually ignore the heat and enjoy the cuddle. :)

Howdy.. Terry and any other family that happens to wonder into my blog. Of course a special welcome to any others who give a care about my ramblings. Thankyou for visiting.
I have been up to my eyeballs busy. I made curtains for a friend at church, I did laundry and ironing that was piling up. And I cleaned a few places that hadn't seen clean in awhile. Went grocery shopping , got the oil changed in the car, went to a meeting, pulled out the rest of the potatoes and onions from the garden and ate a bunch of chocolate chip cookies just because I felt like it.( probably put on a few pounds while I was at it).... etc...

Friday was the last day of school. My son had Field Day. I went to support and take some pictures. He was in the pie eating contest, and came in third; he was on the tug of war team with his class and they won! He also did the balloon toss and pennies in the flour. His teacher asked me to go out and represent the class in the adult Hula Hoop contest. All right, I'm a good sport. The class gets extra points for this. I came in second, thankyou, not bad for a 41 year old out of shape mom. His class got second place over all. Go Team!
My daughter had an icecream sundae party the last day. That was fun and tasty too. I went from field day to icecream, nice way to cool off.

Saturday we went to a Food Storage Fair in another town. We did a booth on water storage and powdered milk. The kids actually liked the samples we gave of chocolate and strawberry flavored powdered milk, they wanted to drink lots. There were good samples of bean use and meat and canning stuff.

Today was a good refreshing day at church. Can't miss my weekly dose.

How come this blog doesn't ask for a title to each entry, like the blog my animals keep. I am actually glad, I hate coming up with titles.
Well I chose a digital camcorder. A Canon Elura 60. It is new enough that there weren't actually many (I think I found one) reviews to read about it. It is suppose to be here on Monday.

We have many potatoes and onions coming out of our garden now. I don't know if I can eat them fast enough. Is there any way to freeze potatoes?

Wow, did that last one actually post three times!!
Today was Wal-Mart day. My bill is always soo much higher when I have to buy a new ink cartidge for the printer. Printer ink is a rip off. They are making soo much money from these things. And I don't like doing the refill thing.
The price of basic necessities is going up,ie..milk and gas, either people are going to go into lots of debt to stay in the techno age or go hungry. I doubt anyone will give up their gadgets now. Hey, the new diet, the "Keeping Up With The Jones" Diet.

I have been searching the internet for an affordable digital camcorder. Too many and too little time. I have eye strain from staring at the screen.
I think I have settle on the Canon Elura 60. I have compared and priced and called for expert advice. I want to be able to put my newest home movies on a dvd disc (or CD-R and play it in the DVD player plugged into the TV. We shall see.....

Hello All... I went to my childrens Honors Assemblies today. Son's at 9:00 and Daughter's at 10. I am very happy with my children and the good work they do.

Tonight was our church ladies meeting. I brought dessert. Strawberry Shortcake. My eyes were bigger than all of the ladies stomachs and there is plenty left over. Come to my house and you will get a large slice....

Saturday we traveled to Orlando with our church group. We were there just for the day. We awoke at 2:30 am and left at 4. We had a good group in the 15 passenger van we rented. We got home at 9:30 p.m. Needless to say I am tired today.

Just for fun I looked up the price of miniature dachshunds on line. Whew... 500$ or more. Not that desparate for one. Maybe a nice 200$ shitzu. Or not.

This is the last week of school. The kids will not be doing much in class, but the teachers make it fun the last week. I had FUN DAY at my daughters school on Friday. It was fun. My son has field day on the last day of school.

My 10 year old, son, went to Wild Adventures theme park today with a group from school. Some boys in his group were going into the water park area and asked if he wanted to go. I didnt send a swim suit, nor did I put sunscreen on places that should not have been exposed. He bought a swim suit with money we sent with him and got burnt on his back and cheeks and legs, sigh*. He had a great time.

I worked in kindergarten today. I love that age. I wish I could remember some of the cute things they say, but my brain goes blank when I try to put things down in words.

I have actually been off yesterday and today. I don't know what that is like anymore, but it is not bad. Of course I have spent them grocery shopping, the cupboards were bare, and cleaning, the bathrooms(well we won't go there).

Hello world!!

I have been working every day at school. I guess at the end of the year the teachers like to take whatever personal days they have left. (I don't blame them) I don't mind earning a little vacation money; I just don't have time for anything else.
Saturday was the Blueberry Festival here in Alma Ga. It is fun to go to each year. The kids have fun doing games and rides. And I love the craft booths. They have a parade and a street dance too. We spend too much money , of course, but have a good time doing it.

We stayed up last night watching the Survior finally(sp). That show is one of our indulgences. It was good.

Next Saturday our little church branch is getting on the road at 4 am to drive to Orlando to visit our temple there. I am not looking forward the the early rising, but it will be wonderful to be in the temple where it is peaceful and many happy wonderful things go on for many worthy people.

Time is just flying by.... I didn't realize it had been so long since I came here...

Tonight my daughter has a show to do with all the first graders. They are singing and dancing to 50's tunes. Her class is doing The Locomotion and Rockin Robin. She enjoys doing it. She will get to wear the Poodle skirt I made her, though it really has a record on it not a poodle. I saw a preview this morning at the school, they did the show for the other grades at the Primary School. Cute Stuff!!

My son was in the Christmas program 2 years ago in second grade. I could pick out his voice singing. He did good!!

Friday the First Grade went on a field trip to Okefenokee Swamp. It poured down rain almost the whole time. We have had drought conditions for months and the day the rain comes is the day I would like it to be sunny. We got to go on the boat ride and the train and see the snake and alligator show. My daughter had no problem touching them to see how they feel. She doesn't like to get wet though.. and I had to tease smiles out of her.
