Bonnie's Ramblings

This and That from an Alabama girl living in South GA

This morning I went to the Honors Assembly for the first graders. My daughter got three things. She would get so excited and sit on the edge of her seat each time she knew her name was about to be called. She is such a joy to me and my husband. Our son has his name on the marque sign outside the Elementary school because he reached 300 plus AR points this year. We are so proud of our beautiful children.

Hubby caught about a dozen fish. None were brought home, the men all had a fish fry Sat. night. He brought home shark tooth necklaces for all of us. I bought new tennis shoes for the kids and I on Sat. I had their feet measured at one store. My sons feet were almost the same as mine.. 6months ago... now they are about 1/2 inch longer than mine. My ten year old wears mens size 7 shoes already.. sheesh :)

Today and tomorrow I am subbing at the Primary school. I love to see my daughter in the halls or the lunch room.... I get to get me some extra "sugar" as it is called in the South.

This whole week I have been working a half day in the mornings at the Elementary school. They are testing this week, and they have to have a "proctor" in each class room to make sure the teacher does the test right. The kids and teachers stress all year about doing this annual testing. I personally think that some of the questions are unfair and too hard for the students. The teachers tell them to do their best.

My hubby is off on a "business" trip. He went with his boss and other customer VIP's to schmooz.... Their schmoozing is being done on boats with fishing poles in hand, in Florida...
The kids and I will just have to go find our fun at the Mall on Saturday... he he he

Tuesday... I know it has been a few days, but I am fighting the Allergy monster again. The pecan (pronounced PEA-CAN down here) trees are starting with the pollen now. My throat itches then it becomes hard to swallow for a few days, then my sinuses and nose go nuts for who knows how long... sigh...

On Saturday I scraped paint off windows so I can paint them. I only got three done, there are 12 more regular ones and then the giant one in the living room. There is always work to be done, I just hardly ever want to do it.

Yesterday I worked at the Primary School. In reading class and in kindergarten. They were good kids. I wore my new sandaly shoe things , They hurt my feet a little. When I got home I noticed three spots on my foot that were light red. They didn't bother me, but tonight they are darker and they itch. Must be ant bites from wearing open toe shoes. Who knows.

Yesterday was also the birthday of my oldest child who was born 12 years ago, and died when he was 2 1/2 . I love him and miss him and know that I will see him again.

Today I taught in fifth grade. I was not looking forward to fifth grade; but this class was pretty good, to my surprise.

Went to Wal-Mart today. I like to get their honey bbq chicken nuggets at the deli and eat them while I shop. That is usually breakfast and lunch. They are very good!
I finished the poodle skirts. They actually have records on them that say Rock n Roll. It will be a cute show.

I didn't work yesterday or today, I was booked for tomorrow, but the teacher cancelled on me. Looks to be a slow work week. Next week there will be a lot of testing going on at the Primary and Elementary schools. I was asked to work at the Elementary school every day for half a day in the mornings, They said me and other subs would be monitoring the kids while they take these important tests.
I just heard on the news that my home town in AL had a mix of rain and snow today. Its April!!! It will be unusually cooler here tomorrow. I think it will be 50 something.

I ran out yesterday of all the kinds of candy and treats that I particularly like. I will probably now just fish around trying anything to sooth my cravings for sweets. Then I will end up just being full but not very satisfied.
So ... just what is the address for chocoholics anonymous?

We went to our church Easter social yesterday... We cooked out hamburgers and hot dogs and the ladies brought all the trimmings, yummy. There were 11 kids hunting about 16 dozen eggs. They enjoy that every year. My kids won't eat boiled eggs in any form. so my husband and I have a deviled egg feast for a week!

Today is Easter. And as the song goes... I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me...

Wednesday was uneventful... Thursday the kids and I went to Wal-Mart. I bought them lunch at the snack-bar there. My son had a slice of pizza, they didn't have cheese pizza so my daughter had a bag of Doritos for lunch. I had something called a nacho chili bowl. It was pretty good. My son wanted to eat what I didn't . He is 10 and is already becoming a bottomless pit to food.

Today.. Friday.. we colored eggs this morning. It is always fun thing. We are having an Easter cook out and egg hunt with our church tomorrow. I always make a big pot of baked beans. The men always stand around the grill and socialize with each other until all the meat is done. My husband jokes about liking to get a cooler full of Root Beer for the men to drink while cooking. :)

Yeaterday was spent in the attic. It didn't take as long as I thought to go through the boxes and get out what was meaningful. The kids spent some time up there with me. They loved the novelty of it. Now I have about 34 boxes of baby and kid clothes. I am thinking yard sale.

Today I spent my time making two poodle skirts for my daughter and a friend who are doing a 50's dance at school with all the other first graders, in May. Instead of a poodle , their skirts have a record on it that says "Rock n Roll" . My daughter is very slender and I had to put elastic in the waist band to keep it from falling off.

Yucky time change.... the government stole an hour from us... I wish they would just keep it at standard time all year. Let the farmers get up an hour earlier, and not force the rest of us to do it too.

I am planning this week to go through my attic and get rid of the twenty five or more boxes of baby and young kid clothes. I will just save the things that have a special meaning to me. When I have grandbabies I will just buy them new stuff. I may have a yard sale, there is so much good stuff...

Friday.. went shopping at Wal-Mart ... they sucked down more of my money.. sigh* Why does meat cost so much.

Today I planted more flowers and did more stuff around the flower beds outside. It was beautiful outside. My husband and I also listened to Conference from our church, on the internet. At the same time we shelled some pecans that have been around since Nov. or so. They are still good. There were lots of them and my neighbor here said that you freeze them and they will last two or three years.

Today the kids were not much better, but I have grown to be use to them.... I just ship them out to other classes when they misbehave. I didn't get a headache until tonight after eating four dounuts ... sugar rush...
