Bonnie's Ramblings

This and That from an Alabama girl living in South GA

Wednesday, November 26, 2003

This morning I boiled a chicken to use for dressing tomorrow. I saved the wish bone to show the kids and see if they wanted to break it to see whos wish would come true. The bone would not break, it was slippery. So I told them that it was saying that they both got their wish. A little while later my daughter came in to me very sad. She said that her wish did not come true. I asked her what she had wished, that she could tell me. She had wished that she could fly... She was serious, and would not accept any explanation of why she couldn't with out a plane or parachute or hanglider (etc..). She kept looking to me asking hoping that I could come up with a way for her wish to come true. I had her call her daddy at work and he just said the same things I did. Her nine year old big brother wanted to make her happy and started making paper wings , and kites and he was full of ideas to make her happy. She finally wasn't so sad. I later made a paper airplane with a paper girl in it with her name on it, and she had fun throwing it around. She is a sweet heart and has a good big brother.

Happy Thanksgiving !!!

My husband and I went to a new Chinese Restaurant in town for lunch today. We love it. The lunch buffet is 5.99. For a town of 4000 plus people, it seems to be doing well. I think we have about 10,000 in the whole county. A small town is a good place to raise kids, but when they grow up you need to get them out of here for a good job.

Hey Terry, Is there a way that I can put this blog's archives on a CD? It could be my journal.
I like sitting in front of a computer rather than writing in a note book.

Tis rainy out side today. I like it when the leaves are almost gone and the misty rain falls. I want to take a walk. I did walk a little way. I let my kids go visit a friend about 1/4 of a mile away, and walked them part way. This is the first time that I even let them walk that far by themselves. I am afraid of what the nasty people in the world today could do to my babies, so I keep them too close to me. I like my apron strings attached.

Just finished watching "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving".
Ah.. memories of my childhood are rampant this time of year.
I told my daughter that she could get out the Christmas movies today. She got them out all right, and started watching everyone in succession until I told her that was enough for one day. :)

Fun Sat Morning

My husband's truck from work is in the shop, No problem we have his old ford that is good...
well the Ford broke down on the road today and I had to go pick him up and then we got a big Ford truck from his office and I drove it while he drove his silver ranger and I towed him to town. My van is working great.. knock on wood...
A song just came to mind.... "I'm a little hunk of tin, nobody knows what shape I'm in, got four wheels and a running board , I'm a four door , I'm a Ford .. Honk , Honk, rattle , rattle , rattle , crash, beep beep!..."

Hey Terry,, what was that easy link to my blog again?

I might change this name to "Bonnie's Babblings"

I was just sitting here trying to think of something dull to say. There, I said it.

Last night was McDonald's burger night. They sell them here for 39 cents on Wednesdays. I can feed my family cheaper than cooking.

I am in First grade yesterday , today and tomorrow. They have been pretty good kids. The teacher had a family member pass away. There seems to be a lot of that happening around here lately.

Went to a funeral this morning.
"Sweet is the peace the gospel brings, to seeking minds and true.
With love refulgent on its wings , it clears the human view."

On another note, I found miniature white reeses cups at the store the other day. I demand equal time to Dark Chocolate ones too....!!!!!!!

Phone sales calls..
Most of them are dialed by computer. When I answer the phone and no one answers back right away then I just hang up the phone. Sorry family if any of that turns out to be you.

I am helping in a kindergarten class today. This morning a first grader broke his arm falling off the monkey bars.

Some good friends here in south GA lost a family member unexpectedly this weekend. I pray for them. I lost someone several years ago. And I know what being hit by that truck or grief feels like.

We got our yearly family Christmas pictures this morning. It is such a production, but we love the results. I have always taken my glasses off for a picture, but I decided this year to wear them (since I can't see without them, and I wonder if people can recognize me).

One of our cats has made friends with our beagle. They play together like two puppies. It just looks plain wierd. The cats have also started crossing the street , and I am afraid that we will have a kitty pancake soon. sigh* I try to teach them.

At the beach this past weekend. It was very windy. The kids enjoyed picking up shells. There was a bunch of seagulls waiting for the tide to go out. Apparently at low tide a sand spit is exposed that they love. See my pictures at http://bonnie2.textamerica.com
The last two days I have subbed in a pre-k class. The 4 and 5 year olds are some sweet kids.
Oh yea, headache gone. whew.....

Monday, November 10, 2003

Aaaahh!
No more headache today.
Subbed for the kindergarten P.E. teacher ..hmmm....should have a headache.

Went to Jekyll Island
My husband had a meeting and a free room for one night. Friday night we ate Low Country Boil at the hotel restaurant. It was all right but I think it could have been better. While hubby was meeting this morning the kids and I went shopping and walking on the beach. Then we picked up hubby and did more shopping and walking and eating. It was cloudy at the beach and very windy today. The kids enjoyed picking up shells. It is nice to be with family.

I love my new vacuum! I am amazed at how much more dirt it picks up than my old one. My daughter and I have allergies and this vacuum has four filters and promised to pick up dust mite stuff and ragweed pollen, which we both are allergic to.

Speaking of chocolate again, I did get myself some. I have chocolate icecream, I made some chocolate chip cookies and I have chocolate chip trail mix. Not to mention all the Halloween candy laying around. There is a leftover brownie in the frig. , though how it got left I will never understand.

My husband has already told me what he wants on the menu for Thanksgiving. Lots of starch and turkey protein, One green vegetable and one orange starch . Though I hear that sweet potatoes are one of the healthiest foods , like broccoli (which we are not having). I have attempted to make his grandmothers dressing recipe a couple of times now , I think it has tasted good, but it is usually not moist enough for him. This year I will add more broth!

My blog is linked to my sisters bamablog.com (just for those few who may have gotten here by other means than her link). Her photo blog shows new shelves being put up. My husband and I have a system when we have to put anything together using instructions. I read them and tell him what to do. :) It has worked well for many shelving type things and swing sets and outdoor metal sheds etc...

I did not sub today, but I did go to Wal-Mart and shop. I can't wait to get my new Hoover Wind tunnel out of the box. I have heard many good things about them.

"Give Chocolate to Bloggers" day , sounds great. I am out of chocolate icecream and will go to the store and give some to myself, so I can make myself a chocolate milkshake tonight.

I noticed this morning that it was so warm and muggy outside that my windows were fogged up. It is colder in my house. HELLO.... the weather is messed up. November is suppose to be cool outside not inside...now where is my sweater?

Without being able to have comments, I don't know if anyone besides my sister (Bamablog.com) even reads this. I am way to cheap to pay for this. I know I ought to change the name to The Cheapest Blog in the World.

This morning I had breakfast late. I was waiting for my GrapeNuts to soften up. I love them , but not crunchy.

Two days after Halloween
My jack-o-lantern is still on my front porch. After all we eat pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. It will probably rot in a couple of days. My son was drawing turkeys in church today. I bring funky crayons and pads of paper to keep the kids busy and quiet. I sometimes get other kids in the congregation sitting next to me. Just call me the nursery :). I love the kids at church.

I don't know about the allergy problems in other parts of the country , but here in south GA they are bad. Everyone I know has sinus trouble and/or is on allergy medicine. My daughter has a cough that comes and goes , and a constant drippy nose. I have a constant sinus headache and drainage. My sinus doctor wanted to send me to a neurologists to see if something else was causing my headaches. Those doctors are too expensive, and I know it is mostly from my sinuses. Allergy meds cause me headaches too. It is probably something I will have to live with as long as I live down here.
Well, now I have bored ya'll with my complaint. I will not do so again. :)

Happy Day after Halloween
I carved two pumpkins at my daughters school yesterday, went to the schools costume parade, went to my daughters school party, took the kids to the chamber of commerce festival, got pizza at Pizza Hut for supper, then came home and passed out candy to the likes of Brittany Spears and princesses and cowboys etc....
Then my husband got up early and went hunting. And there is a seven mile garage sale down my road and joining the next one. We did not participate in the sale , but there are cars going up and down the road all morning.
I am tired. My husband will owe me mexican food tonight. :)
